A programmable thermostat can mechanically and automatically control your air conditioning by turning it off when you leave for work and turning it on just before you get home.
the identical thing happens in the winter, but this time it’s the heating bill It does not make sense to keep the rooms at 70 degrees or more when no one is at home. Program your thermostat to only turn up the heat at times when people are normally present and to lower it to 64 degrees, 62 degrees, or whatever you’re comfortable with at times when people are typically away.
There are many more little conservation things that you can do as well. But a programmable thermostat, even by itself, will save you lots of money annually.
